YEARS OF DRUG USE HAVE TRANSFORMED MARCIA BRADY INTO LOOKING THIS WAY
You might have seen ‘The Brady Bunch’ reruns on late night TV, but if you were around back when the show first came out you’d know what a hot ticket one Brady beauty was. In the 1970s, Maureen McCormick was the girl every girl wanted to be, and every boy wanted to be with. So, what ever became of sister Marcia? Well, there’s good news and there’s bad news.
The bad news is that Ms. McCormick, like so many other child stars, spent years struggling after the series that made her famous came to an end. She made a lot of guest appearances on popular television shows, but she had trouble finding steady work. McCormick also had difficulty finding serious roles as an actress because of typecasting.
The transition from child star to adult star was a struggle. McCormick wrestled with depression, bulimia, and drug addiction. These problems made things with her career even worse, because she gained the reputation of being unreliable.
After spending the 80’s and 90’s doing mostly stage work, McCormick returned to television by appearing on a number of celebrity-themed reality shows.
Thankfully, the 70’s star turned her life around. She wrote her autobiography, entitled, ‘Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice.’ Her candid tale was found to be inspiring and the book was a bestseller.
She turned her life around, thank goodness.
