There’s certain things that you would expect would be a part of a festive display at the White House. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree, perhaps a decorative snowman or two – and maybe even a masterful gingerbread house. A portrait of Hillary Clinton would typically not be the first thing that comes to mind, but it’s there in all of its glory this year.

As AWM shares, that’s sparked a ton of reaction. One publication that recently visited the White House shared a photo of what they saw on social media, and it took on a life of its own from that point.

“Portrait of Clinton featured among White House Christmas decorations,” a tweet from The Hill read.

“I would like to know who and when the painting was commissioned, and who paid for it. If it was paid by taxpayers, it may be just the right addition to the Secret Service break area, for playing darts,” shared one user.

There’s been no clear explanation as to why the portrait was included in the display, so that’s led to a ton of interesting theories popping up.

“They did it just to get to President Elect Trump and his supporters. Obama’s can’t stand HRC. But what’s funny is they have to view it every day. So who gets the last laugh!!!!” one user wrote.
