A security officer at a Missouri commuter line was shot in the shoulder by an armed man with no ticket. Police pursued the suspect and shot him. He’s in critical condition.

A Wellston MetroLink commuter station guard got into an altercation with a man about a ticket. The man apparently had no ticket and argued about $2 transfer, and the confrontation became physical. The security officer reached for his gun, but the other man pulled out a pistol first, shot him and ran.

Just as the scuffle occurred, a train was pulling in with two county officers. They heard the gunshots and bystanders pointed the direction in which the shooter ran.

Police chased the shooter who they found trying to stop a cab. He reportedly disobeyed police orders, and the officers fired at him. He was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition.

The security officer was shot in the shoulder, but his injuries are not life-threatening. Police are investigating the incident.
