ORCA IS TRAPPED ON ROCKY SHORE FOR HOURS, THEN THIS GROUP ODDLY AND UNEXPECTADLY DO THIS

An Orca whale, also known as a killer whale, was stranded on some rocks off the coast of British Columbia. The whale must have been swimming in the wrong place when the tide went down, and he was completely out of the water. He surely would have died if not for some people jumping in to help.

Animal rescuers rushed to help the whale get back into the sea. She was spotted by a man who called the Guardians from Hartley Bay for help. Some members of the group For Whales also heard about the problem and came to aid with rescue efforts.

Volunteers covered the whale with sheets and wet her down with buckets and water pumps. Keeping her skin moist was essential– she’d already been out of the water for hours.

The rescuers said at first the whale cried out in fear, but she seemed to realize they were trying to help. They worked for eight hours keeping her watered down until the tide rose. As the water rose, you could hear the whale crying with both fear and relief.

As soon as the water was high enough for her to escape, she broke free and swam for open waters. “She’s going fast, that’s a really good sign,” said a relieved rescuer.

It was a long day for all, but the happy ending was worth it.
