MOTHER TELLS CHILDREN TO WAIT FOR HER RETURN AFTER DROPPING THEM AT PARK, CHILDREN START WALKING AFTER SHE DOESN’T SHOW BACK UP
A woman in Arizona brought her children to a park in an unsafe area at night and told them to wait there for her. She never came back. When authorities finally found her, she was drunk.
Valerie Hazel Carlisle, 23, dropped off her 9- and 2-year-old daughters in a park in Phoenix on Saturday night. The mother told the girls to stay put until she returned for them. The girls estimate they waited for over an hour, but their mother never came back.
The two girls, who sat in the cold without jackets, left the park together. They had been staying with their mother’s boyfriend’s grandfather, Adrian Joaquin, and searched for his apartment. The older girl knew the general direction, but when they found the apartments they were not sure which was Joaquin’s unit. They knocked on random doors until they found him.
Joaquin called the police, who searched for Carlisle. They found the inebriated mother at around 2:30 a.m. Carlisle was arrested and charged with child neglect.
