MANAGER OVERHEARS STRANGE CUSTOMER’S QUESTION TO CLERK, THAT’S WHEN HE SPOTS THIS BY THE MAN’S FEET
A lot of people struggle to find jobs, but one man had a particular obstacle to overcome. The man, who suffers from a brain injury, requires his trusty service dog to accompany him. He was beginning to worry that he’d never find a job, when Lowes surprised him.
Owen Lima went on an interview with his service dog, Blue, looking for a job. He expected Lowes would turn him down like every other interviewer had so far. He got a pleasant surprise: both he, and Blue, were hired.
Lowes said they had no problem hiring Lima, as long a Blue wore a proper uniform. They provided Blue with a Lowes ‘customer service’ vest of his own.
“It’s so hard to find a job where people can accept me for the way I am and the fact that I have a service dog with me,” Lima said tearfully.
Lima and Blue are going to be customer service greeters, welcoming customers into the store and managing carts for them. Photos of their first day on the job show Blue sporting his new uniform. The photo is going viral.
“We’re overwhelmed,” said store manager Paul Gallo about all the attention they’re getting. “We never intended for this to happen. We listened to an individual and we took him on board like we would anyone else.”
Gallo is only worried about one thing– that Blue is going to get spoiled with love from all the customers and other employees.
