49ERS REFUSE TO CUT KAEPERNICK, NOW POLICE HAVE BAD NEWS FOR THE ENITRE TEAM
San Francisco 49ers quarterback got national attention, but it wasn’t for his skills on the field; it was for his protests. The vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement refuses to stand during the National Anthem in protest of law enforcement officers. Law enforcement officers say two can play at that game.
Colin Kaepernick’s protest has caught on with NFL teams across the nation. Players are starting to join in his protest of authority in this country. Instead of saluting the flag, they’re taking a knee. Kaepernick claims he has the right to protest injustice as he sees it. He says he is outraged that police officers ‘murder minorities.’
What Kaepernick forgets is that everyone has rights. The police officers who protect Levi’s Stadium have rights as well. Providing security for the stadium is not a public job; it’s a voluntary service with a private business that cops do on the side. Many cops have volunteered as security to make extra money and to get to watch the games for free. After seeing all the protests, officers are feeling slighted.
Santa Clara’s Police Officers’ Association union leader Frank Saunders says if officers no longer show up to provide voluntary security services to the stadium, it’s Kaepernick’s fault. “The 49ers are allowing this to come out from an employee and it’s making for a hostile work environment for us at the stadium.”
Maybe officers should start taking a knee when Kaepernick comes out.
